Prefectural Authority of Thessaloniki (Greece)
The Prefectural Administration of Thessaloniki constitutes one of the independent decentralised institutions of local government and aims at the social, economic and cultural development of the wide Thessaloniki region.
The Prefectural Administration of Thessaloniki undertakes a number of activities and initiatives for the common benefit of the citizens of Thessaloniki and is currently implementing a number of projects funded by national and European sources.
Among its latest activities there are the elaboration of the "Prefectural Development Program" 2003-2006 and the "Special Integrated Program of Urban Development of Thessaloniki - Metropolis 2003-2006".
The Prefecture of Thessaloniki collaborates with the other partners during the whole period of implementation of the project. More specifically, the Prefecture of Thessaloniki has undertaken the following tasks:
- Analysis of the requirements of users/clients with disabilities in order to make Thessaloniki a friendly city,
- Contribution to the definition of the proposed methodology and application of the methodology to selected structures and services, mainly in the tourism sector (hotels etc.),
- Contribution to the creation of a network between the cities-partners, which will be based upon specific thematic offers,
- Creation of an info-centre, promoting the messages and coordinating the different activities, organising ad-hoc events and monitoring actions and their results.
